Full/Partial Dentures

Today’s dentures are very natural looking and more comfortable than ever. Dentures are artificial teeth set into a framework which rests on the gums. They are used to replace either a full or partial set of missing teeth. Because changes in your mouth will occur, a denture will need to be checked and re-fitted periodically.

Partial dentures are used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. At Volta Dental, Dr. La-Kumi can use dental implants to stabilize loose dentures. Being able to speak, eat and smile with confidence is the primary treatment goal for us!

Getting used to your new dentures:

If you have recently been fitted with new dentures, you may benefit from these tips:

  • Eat soft food at first, chewing small bites slowly with your back teeth to prevent the dentures from shifting.
  • Practices speaking slowly until you are accustomed to your denture.
  • Dentures may feel awkward at first – follow your dentist’s instructions for wear and the discomfort should soon disappear.
  • If Dentures shift out of position, close your mouth and swallow to reposition them.
