Tooth Extractions

extractions1The most common reason for an extraction is tooth damage due to breakage or decay. If the infection or trauma has destroyed enough tooth structure to prevent restoration, an extraction may be necessary. There are also other reasons for tooth extraction. Extra teeth which are blocking other teeth from coming in, severe gum disease, orthodontic treatment and impacted wisdom teeth.

In most non-emergency situations involving one or several teeth, Dr. Martin K. La-Kumi will evaluate you and treat you at the same visit provided we use local anesthesia (“Novocaine”). Most patients are able to tolerate single tooth extractions very easily using local anesthesia alone. However, not all extractions are the same.
